About Us

Welcome to Beginner Disaster & Survival Prep.com and thank you for visiting our site, it’s very much appreciated !

We consider ourselves one of the leading sources of Information, advice and support for anybody venturing on the Disaster & Survival Preparedness adventure but is overwhelmed by the sheer volume of resources on and offline such that they have neither a clue what is valid advice and/or what is value purchasing.

We can help you because we were also beginners not so long ago. Hence, our experiences i.e. costly mistakes will be your golden nuggets – not just in terms of what you learn and understand but also what you may decide to purchase in the future.

Founded in October of 2019 by myself, Alexander Tawiah, Beginner Disaster & Survival Prep.com has come a long way from its beginnings in a garage as the ‘head office’ location ! When I first started out, my interest  in Preparedness (urban & wilderness) was ignited by a frugal lifestyle which was characterized by :

  • use of everything right to the last drop
  • cooking from scratch and thinking ahead when it comes to food
  • doing things, the low-tech way
  • repair things and
  • save pennies/cents (whatever you can relate) throughout every single day whilst at the same time leaving something aside as emergency funds.

From viewing our menu, I trust you can understand our dedication to providing you with the very best of learning materials, interactive content, un-biased product/equipment/devices reviews, with an emphasis on easy comprehension, credibility and value for money.

Frequently, you will read many instances on this website where you will be prompted to stop and consider what we have written (or about to write !). This exemplifies one of the major features of this site (and associated sites/references) i.e.you are actively encouraged to take action /get involved rather than just passively read what is in front of you.

For now, having read a short account of ourselves, see if you can relate your present state of affairs and future objectives / aspirations to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs as illustrated below :

Maslow’s hierarchy is a popular psychology principle that explains what humans need to survive and thrive in order of importance: The foundation is, obviously, essentials like air, water, and shelter. Many preppers refer to The Rule of 3’s: You can survive 3 minutes without air, 3 hours without shelter in bad conditions, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food. Once you’ve got those covered you can then think about the next layer, and so on. At the top of the pyramid is self-actualization, which means things like enjoying hobbies and “finding yourself.” Use these two critical frameworks to keep your preparations grounded and prioritized. For example, it’s much better to have four boring meals than two of your favorite meals. Believe it or not, we see people making these mistakes all the time. “I’d rather have chocolate and the Game of Thrones books in my bug out bag, because what’s the point of surviving if I can’t have candy and fun!” = Bad Prepper !

On a final note, please kindly consider joining our e-mail list by attempting our mini-quiz (and then downloading our free preparedness / survival related products).
