We often talk about ‘corona’, but officially the disease is called COVID-19. The disease is caused by the corona virus i.e. SARS-COV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – CoV coronavirus -2).
The virus is spread by coughing and sneezing. It is released into the air via droplets. If other people inhale these droplets, or get them into their mouth, nose or eyes, for example, they too can become infected with the virus.
The Signs and / or Symptoms may resemble a cold or ‘flu. The disease can cause severe pneumonia, which can lead to death. Colds, shortness of breath or fever are complaints associated with the coronavirus which we will discuss again, shortly along with other typical complaints . Due to this, you will have to stay at home and get tested if you have these or other symptoms to be discussed.
